Broccoli Sprout Shot

Broccoli sprouts are a hormone-balancing superfood.  This tonic is a wonderful way to use a simple healing food to help reverse estrogen dominance.

Sprouts of cruciferous seeds have a highly estrogen-balancing quality.  Aim for 2-3 tbsp per day.  Lemon juice is very alkalizing for the body.  And salt is great for rehydrating.

Equipment: High-speed blender

Serves: ½ cup
Ingredients
  • ½ cup broccoli sprouts
  • ½ cup filtered water
  • Pinch sea salt
  • Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
How To Make
  1. Place everything in a high-speed blender and mix until bright green and all the sprouts are combined. Serve immediately.
Notes
Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but any leftovers should be stored in the fridge for a day at most.

  1. Thank you for this recipe. Very delicious! I would like to know if we can make the same juice with broccoli micro-greens? And do they have the same nutrients as broccoli sprouts? TIA

    • You can certainly try it. It may taste a little different, as the sprouts are more mild flavored. Of course if you are growing your own microgreens you will have to remove any leftover soil. Enjoy!

  2. Would you be able to recommend a certain broccoli seed type? After looking online (Neseed.com), I am seeing many types of broccoli seeds available. Any information would be appreciated!

  3. Magdalena does not recommend a particular brand or variety, other than “organic broccoli sprouting seeds”. If you search online you will see lots of great options.

    • Sarah – her email says to drink 1/2 cup every day for prevention; 1-cup every day if you have breast cancer.

  4. I’m been used broccoli sprouts in a smoothies , thanks that new recipe. I just have a problem with gas and blogging sometimes eating broccoli sprouts, is there good recipe helpful not causing gas ?

  5. When I buy them in the store they contain the roots too do you eat them too or cut them off

  6. When I drink this I find that I get a ton of belching afterwards. Do you know why this might be?

  7. Oh and to increase the sulforaphane 3 fold, place in 70 degrees Celcius water for 10 mins then drain.

  8. I tried the heating method with broccoli sprouts, and wanting to get maximum benefits, drank the water as a plain tea. This is good for you, yes?

    I was surprised at how bitter the sprouts became once cooked. I suppose that’s the sulforophane at work?

  9. Do you strain before serving? Mine was foamy so I strained it. Am I losing the nutrients that way?
