PMS Aromatherapy Salve

A 2014 study published in the Journal of Phytotherapy Research found that inhalation of clary sage oil had the ability to reduce cortisol levels by 36% and improved thyroid hormone levels (TSH). Bergamot oil has long been used to build confidence, enhance your mood, and reduce pain from headaches and muscle tension.

Research discussed in the Proceedings of the Society of Experimental Biology and Medicine also discovered that thyme essential oil has progesterone balancing effects. All of which combined makes this a great blend to assist in pre-menstrual hormone balancing.

  1. Three questions: I’m post menopausal but I have hypothyroidism and possibly hashimoto. Will it be good for my thyroid and can it be made with a substitute for coconut oil?

My mother has cortisol issues but I say past being menopausal. Can it help her cortisol levels?

    • Hi Beth,
It can still be helpful for her-Yes. you can try olive oil or almond oil-it will not be a thickened salve but would still be safe to use.

  2. If I get hormonal migraines, wohld this work for them? If so, where should I apply it?

    • HI Tiffany, we do know it can be helpful with headaches. We haven’t tested it with migraines, but you certainly could try it. You could massage it into the low back or belly as suggested. Or try the shoulders or back of neck as well. You might also look into Magnesium Threonate to assist with migraines, we have found it to be helpful. HB Support
