Ovarian cyst, fibroids, really painful cramps, possible endometriosis, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, hormone headaches with a weird dizziness that feels like a sugar low but sugar doesn’t help, stage 3 adrenal fatigue, low estrogen but estrogen dominance because progesterone so low. Scared to start bioidentical hormones. Tried some natural alternatives such as maca, DHEA, etc. While it helped a bit with the headaches and cramps, it potentially contributed to longer periods which were inconvenient. Also concerned about the testosterone component of DHEA. The various health issues plus working full time means I rarely feel like going through the work of cooking. Need quick, easy and tasty solutions.

    • I had multiple miscarriages after having my first child (now 2). After much reading, I believe I have or had low progesterone/estrogen dominance. After taking a vitamin supplement with Vitex (a.k.a. Chasteberry), I am now in my second trimester of pregnancy with our next baby, but I want to work on detoxing “dirty” estrogens so that I hopefully need not rely on a supplement to maintain future pregnancies (I’d also like to keep my hair, which I’ve lost heavily since high school).

One question that I’ve been wondering about is this: can estrogen dominance/low progesterone cause *long* bleeding (lochia) after giving birth? Just curious, because I definitely had that after my first.

I have been battling Sjogren’s, infertility, endometriosis, PCOS, anxiety, depression, luteal phase deficiency, irregular cycles, mid cycle spotting, mood swings, severe food intolerances and chronic hives for the past 3 years. My diet is severely limited because of all of the foods that I have adverse reactions to. I am currently on a very strict combination of low lectin and low histamine regimen. I do not eat gluten, dairy, soy, nuts, seeds, anything fermented, a significant amount of good healthy veggies and fruits, no alcohol and nothing processed. Because of my limited diet I take somewhere between 20-25 vitamins and other supplements daily. Honestly, eating is my biggest struggle in life. I work closely with a functional dietician and we meet every 2 weeks for a 1:1 session, but I am still struggling. Can this program still work for me? I see a few of the sample recipes contain broccoli, onion, garlic, nuts, seeds and fermented foods which I adversely react to. Is there any hope for me? Thanks!

I got an estrogen patch and slept 7 hours straight for the first time in years! It hasn’t happened again, but I have been sleeping better. The problem is that it causes bleeding. I’ve looked at your sleep recommendations on your website, but those things haven’t worked for me. I’m desperately looking for some way of getting enough estrogen to sleep (and preferably to avoid hot flashes) without bleeding.

  39. Hi, my name is Stephanie. I’ve struggled with these issues all my life. When I was 12, I exploded into severe weight gain all over my body. I used to be skinny as a kid. I have a huge tummy, a lot of fat on my hips and yes my thighs too. I’ve never lost the fat, even with numerous exercises I tried to do to lose it. I’ve always had problems with my moods too. I become extremely depressed on and off all the time for no apparent reason, and get extremely stressed out very easily. I have problems talking to people because i feel so nervous around people and always feel very nervous. I hate how I look, I absolutely hate it. I recently took birth control too and it made these issues worse and now I have breast pains too. I also have always had problems “down there”; itchiness and for years I’ve struggled with frequent urination. None of these problems have ever went away, and no matter who I talk to, no one really understands. I really need help.

Also, on the female side, my sister is estrogen dominant and had estrogen sensitive breast cancer many years ago (she’s been clear for many years) and I’m hoping to find a way to encourage her to check this out too and maybe find a way to more empowerment and less worry. I have about 3-4 days of premenstrual spotting and within that time i get a horrible headache that lasts 24-72 hours. At the end of my period i get a couple more day of spotting and yet another headache.

Im way more irritable than i have ever been which is effecting my relationship with my family.

I have had candida issues, just did a cleanse and feel way better.

I randomly have cold flashes during the day and at night i get hot flashes here and there. I also wake up in the middle of the night most nights. Sometimes it takes me over an hour or more to get back to sleep.

I have been living in a fog for years.

Not sure if this is related, but within the last couple of months ive noticed changes in my site, i will zone out constantly, not that my vision is blurry but rather it goes out of focus very easily and then back again when i pop myself out of it.

I have gotten rid of toxic beauty products, now have an organic latex mattress, buy pretty much all organic food, eat way more veggies, barely eat sugar or simple carbs, have taken more time for myself each day to reduce stress but can definetly do more, and ive been taking supplements regularly along with a multi collagen powder and green superfood.

All of this and i am still getting these symptoms. My doctor wants me to use a bioidentical progesterone cream and vitex for a few months but i really dont feel comfortable with it and hoping for alternative options.

My main symptoms are night sweats, migraines, and frequent waking in the night. I recently did a genetic test and learned I am heterozygous for the A1298C defect, which is probably affecting my ability to clear excess estrogen and cortisol.

I am committed to doing whatever I can learn to do naturally to correct these hormonal problems.

However, I still have cellulite, stubborn fat around my hips and thighs, and a few spider veins – leading me to believe I have ED (which may have contributed to the candida. • I’m coming from a family of estrogen dominance. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at 40 with this. I’m now 32 and have already started my annual breast exams to help catch any problems early. I have many physical things that point highly to estrogen dominance and I want to stop the cycle of breast cancer before it happens again. I know obesity is a large part of estrogen dominance and I struggle horribly with this. My stress is to high and working on those reductions. Looking to have children in the next few years and want to be as healthy as possible as well.

Lots of anxiety , spotting and irregular periods, depression, celulites, major headaches on estrogen phase. last two cycles estrogen test showed 900 and 856 results and for the past 6 weeks my progesterone has been <0.5. I have tried many things and have not been able to beat this. Im hopeful for this program.

I have transitioned recently back to the UK from Shanghai where I lived for 8.5 years and it’s thrown my system off as well as my food. 74. I had surgery for endometriosis back in 2013 and had one ovary removed. The 1-year treatment with Lupron Depot (monthly injections that induced an artificial menopause) prior to the surgery, didn’t help at all, as I was still a stage IV when I had the surgery, with excruciating pains. Post surgery, I was put on Visanne pills ls as a mesure of prevention, but I didn’t feel ok. Plus, I also have Hashimoto, and my endo suggested that Visanne might do more harm than good.
Back in 2017 three lumps were discovered in my right breast – I had a mammography followed by biopsy. Nothing bad, but the lumps are likely the consequence of my hormonal treatment for endometriosis. I stumbled upon a study in Italy where women used NAC for shrinking the cysts and for preventing the endometriosis for those who already had surgery for it. Such a pity that no OBY in North America is talking about that study and the NAC pills. So, I take them two times/year, for a 3-month period each time and so far I’m good.

I’m ready to make whatever changes are necessary not to go back to endometriosis and to heal my Hashimoto as well.

Take liquid magnesium before bed for sleep. Or a magnesium bath. Also carbs from starchy vegetables and processed sugar is going to cause night sweats. Go low carb and see if this doesn’t do the trick!!😊 The joint pain could be caused from nuts and conventional meat. I’m sorry but you’ll need to do an elimination diet. Eat the food then wait and see if you react. If so stay away from the food for 3-6 months to heal..

          • Hi Halina,
Just want to mention: do not worry about cholesterol and the conventional myths about it. It is a vitally important super antioxidant, that we need and, generally, people, who live to high age are known to have higher levels. Cholesterol is rather a messenger that something needs attention. It is homocystein levels we should be worrying about, as well as proper diet (low fat, low cholesterol diets = road to misery, eventually early grave trip). Cholestero also acts as a bandaid for injured artery walls. It is not causing a problem, but, rather associated/signalling there might be one. To properly educate yourself and to understand it more: one of the good sources of explanation are Dr. Eric Berg’s videos on the topic (go to youtube).

  87. I am realizing I have probably had problems with estrogen dominance for my entire life, when I hit puberty I started getting melasma on my face and body, I was often moody and I was told it was part of getting a monthly visit from aunt flo so just live with it. I often had painful periods and in my teens & 20s. In my 20’s got pregnant and lost it, I was often manic in my feelings around my periods and bloated, etc. Never had a bad one but never had a good one either. In my 30’s I started dealing with weight gain for the first time ever, lumped it up to stress and lost it and I again got pregnant and lost that one as well, but in my 40’s it got worse sure it could be stress but it is a lot more, I can’t lose like 30 lbs I suddenly gained about 2 years ago during a stressful family/career moment, it all went to my boobs & hips to the point where I went up 2 bra sizes and don’t want to buy custom underwear and I cannot lose the weight no matter what I do, I am starting to slowly now which is strange and frustrating I don’t drink, do drugs or indulge in crazy behavior. I am beyond frustrated but my periods have gotten worse and I have to cancel things in my life around it, headaches, severe emotions and I am tired of it. I also had a breast cancer scare a year ago and I don’t want that either so I am figuring it is my hormones. I do eat as healthy as I can, I am in the process of eliminating coffee but I need to do something I don’t like how I am aging badly because of this. There has got to be a better way.

I’ve had glimpses of “regularity” in my life which makes the hard times even harder, because I know what it feels like to feel normal. However, I’ve never been able to figure out what I’m doing during those moments to make it consistent.

I know food plays a very important, if not complete role in how we feel and how we are able to move through life. I have tried out or contemplated other plans and supplements where food is adjusted to be a more whole foods approach. But I’m struggling with a sugar addiction that I have not been able to shake. Sleep deprivation is a large reason for my inability to commit and stick to my goals of eliminating refined sugars from my life. It’s one reason for many of my “failures”.

I want to learn to eat to live not live to eat. I don’t want my life/spirit masked by things that keep me from being my true self. I NEED to be me and I can’t do that right now…the way things are.

PLEASE, Please check out Dr Adamo blood type diet. I’m 50. When I was 45 I had such joint pain so bad that I couldn’t move. I also had chronic fatigue since my late teens!!
Due to the extreme joint pain, I decided to stop gluten – which helped tremendously
      – BUT –
I’d eat certain foods and I’d be back to square 1.
I’d eat cauliflower and be whacked with tiredness again. I’d eat apples and get mouth ulcers, etc etc. Add a splash of vinegar on the family salad bowl and the joint pain would return. It was so discouraging.
(I didn’t mention – i had chronic brain fog, no memory, and my muscles would sieze up).
When I put into practice the blood type diet (I am Type O, ) everything came right. My memory has never been so good in all my 50 years!! – it’s better than my kids at times!! I cant draw on memories that couldn’t be retained all those years, but its a wonderful gift to have energy and control of my body.
I still have heavy 12 – 20 day periods – but I,m going to see this podcast.

But medical from Dr and insurance needs Rx for my medical because order online is very pricey.

Again what s right ingredients for bit d3 (5000 units)+ k2. Coconut Oil? Correct. Not corn oil, sunflower oil?
Bad ingredients are not for me.

I’m 57, fairly good overall health, except for the constant lower abdominal/gynecological pain & low back pain, which feels like continuous PMS symptoms. I am finally menopausal as of this year. I’m terrified to have a laparoscopy done but that is the next diagnostic test the doc wants me to have due to the constant pain. Vaginal ultrasounds and a uterine biopsy should nothing.. I’m ondering what to expect from the lap procedure & how long recovery is. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. <3

Fortunately I was quickly diagnosed quickly with Endometriosis in June 2018 and had a lap surgery in Aug. 2018. Also had a few bouts of severe PMS. I implemented many of your diet and supplement suggestions following lap surgery (my ObGyn suggested your book Hormone Balance) starting Aug 2018 and I read Lara Briden’s Period Repair Manual. My PMS symptoms have almost disappeared, my periods are much lighter and I lost a lot of belly fat (1-2 sizes). It seems a hormone imbalance could be the cause of the belly fat, of which I still have another layer that is really stubborn. I do resistance workouts every day and follow a very healthy non dairy, non gluten whole food diet and no sugar diet (except berries). I am in great shape but this belly fat will not go away. I want to refresh my approach and am all in, willing to do what I need to do! Thank you, Magda!!!

I do have hair loss, bloated belly and pain in upper right stomach. But back pain more often. Have had blood work. Kidney stone removed in hopes that would stone the back pain, no luck. IBS, finding I’m sensitive to some foods. Have removed most grains, gluten, legumes out of diet. I think I have a sensitivity or allergy to whole eggs 😢. Currently trying a low fat, low carb diet.

  132. I have, unfortunately, nearly all of the symptoms of estrogen dominance. The worst of it is the terrible migraines 24 hours before my period, as well as a veritable onslaught of depression and anxiety. I eat a VERY low calorie diet (clean and healthy) and – while not highly physically active, I’m certainly no couch potato. Despite this, my body is determined to hang onto fat stores, especially around my stomach, hips, and thighs. I also have lumpy, tender breasts despite my age (I’m not even 30 yet!), and the women in my family have a long history of breast and uterine cancer, which I’m desperate to avoid. I’m fully committed to fixing my hormone balance ASAP, whatever it takes!

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at 32 but no one had any insight on how to treat never mind knew about this disease other than thyroid medication which really didn’t help.

So you might have Bracca gene? I sold implants 35 years ago and it was gel that caused a big Problem . Silicon was ok for most . And it’s still a foreign object implanted. Listen to your body. Best wishes susan levy , health coach and educator

I have added a small amount of iodine to displace the fluoride in my body. I take cold and quick showers to reduce fluoride and chlorine absorption to my body. I avoid all toxins in my diet by eating organically exclusively. I do an intermittent fast once or twice a week. I find that a complete water fast is much easier than thinking about food, limiting to 500 calories, searching for the number of calories in any food etc. During a water fast I add a small amount of real salt which I believe helps the water to absorb.

I had an ablation done after periods that were nearly unending and would continue for months at a time. I have brain-fog, difficulty sleeping, hair loss, facial hair, acne at 40, excess weight around the middle and extreme fatigue. I also look at my 13 year old who is starting puberty and want to learn how to help her avoid going down the same path as I, while seeing some similarities that have me worried that she’ll struggle with those same issues. I hope to change our eating habits to help buffer the environmental toxins to which we are exposed.

      Reply
      • It is a great question Paola. We have a few types of estrogen in our body. We have and need the “good/supportive” estrogen. We also can have the “dirty” estrogen which sometimes accumulates in the body (estrogen dominance) -if the liver isn’t clearing it. . When we can release the estrogen dominance, the good estrogen can increase. There is so much to learn and we are happy you have tuned in. This course definitely addresses your concern. You are in the right place. ~HB Team

I am 55 and have had fibrocystic breasts and weight/excess fat and cellulite in my hips and thighs since I can remember. I’ve been ill for many years since the birth of my last baby at 38. Some conditions I have include hypothyroidism, multiple food immune responses and allergies, heavy periods in the past, and a fibroid cyst in my uterus. Three years ago I became very ill with many symptoms included low immune function, chronic low grade fevers, fatigue, a thyroid event with some TPO Ab (11). I’m in the health field myself and a registered dietitian/nutritionist in the field of integrative medicine but I can’t seem to help myself. I’m committed to doing whatever it takes so I can heal and help, others. Thank you for what you do and I feel hopeful! -Marta

Not just mono, but a reactivated case of EBV. It can have similar symptoms and can be an underlying cause of many auto-immune diseases. Also, have you ever had your candida levels checked? Again, some similar symptoms. Just some things to look at as you work your way through improving your health. Hope you get some answers.

    • I saw you on Carol Tuttle’s video. A lot of what you said makes sense. I am confused however because I am on bio-identical hormones as a result of hysterectomy at 38 and removal of an endometrosis filled ovary at 40. Only a few weeks after the surgery I started getting horrendous migraines that started me on a path for help. I didn’t want to be on meds everytime and I found bio identical hormones and they helped tremendously. I read the Miracle of Bio-identical Hormones and it saved me. I learned I am estrogen dominate; have been since I started getting ovarian cysts at 15. Many surgeries and procedures followed for years after up until my needed ovary removal. Last Sept I did a 5 week candida cleanse through a health clinic. Fealt great lost almost 30 pounds. At my visit after my bio-id Dr. increased my doses on everything because my labs came back with low T3 T4, progesterone, testosterone and estradiol. Why would my natural levels decrease after being healthier? He said the more weight I lose, the higher doses of HRT I’ll need. That goes against what you said in her video. I want to be healthy naturally, not on synthetic drugs. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you

  216. Willing to make dietary changes, supplements. Already exercise, no gluten, no grains, no soy, no processed food, mostly vegan, low carb. Get monthly migraine, although post-menopausal, because of daughter’s periods & her hormones – funny but not. Energy is good, unless migraine. Also, migraines from strong chemicals, so try to keep away from those, or from dehydration. Still low thyroid, but no more Hashimoto’s.

  217. I’m 67 had PCOS in my 20’s, and 10 years ago had estrogen dominant breast cancer with lumpectomy and radiation. Came back last year on same side, treated holistically without good results. This year I had cancer both sides, had double mastectomy in August, estrogen dominant. I am skipping radiation but will be on aromatase inhibitors again.

I want to avoid more complications and recurrence so very interested in natural means and avoiding side effects of drug.

  218. Hormone replacement has been contraindicated for me due to family history of breast cancer and personal history of atypical hyperplasia. I am 49 years old and have been having perimenopausal symptoms for off and on over the past 8 years. I understand the power of healing through diet especially since we have had fabulous results with dietary changes in this household to reverse my husband’s type 2 diabetes! I’m excited to learn more about how to support myself. I already have a stellar sleep routine, use intermittent fasting and low carb lifestyle with good results. I have had migraines since i was 15; i can reduce triggers like lack of sleep, dehydration, eye strain and stress but hormonal imbalances have been the one i haven’t found a good way to mitigate…. till now! Thank you for this opportunity.

  220. I’m 5o years old and my menstrual cycle is still fairly regular ( around 25 days) I have not missed one yet. I am experiencing some night sweats – 4-5 x per week waking (mostly 2x) in the night to pee and sometimes difficulty falling back to sleep. In the past few months I’ve been cramping and feeling very exhausted on the first day but now every cycle. I had small folicular ovarian cysts 10+ years ago that resolved themselves on their own but I feel like they may becoming an issue but I’m not 100% sure since the and pain may also be coming from digestive issues and they are not persistent.
